Garnet

The garnet for sandblasting proposed by Techma is composed of almandite granules, one of the hardest and toughest known mineral.

It is a mineral belonging to granites with chemical formula Fe3Al2(SiO4)3.

It proves to be chemically inert, with no free silica and no toxic metals, and therefore guarantees a safe working environment as well as reduced disposal costs compared to other cheaper abrasives for sandblasting.

Being free from ferrite, it is particularly indicated for sandblasting of stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, glass, marbles, etc. as well as cleaning façades of buildings.

It is characterized by high toughness and hardness (7.5 / 8.0Mohs ), good specific weight (4.1kg/dm³ ), and low collapsability.

Thanks to a low consumption, high productivity and the possibility to be used more times, all that allows sandblasting at limited costs.

It can be used in free casting sandblasting machines and in pressure or depression compressed-air sandblasting cabins.

Uses

Low collapsability (it can be recycled from 4 t 7 times) and its hygroscopicity make the garnet for sandblasting particularly suitable both for hydro-jet cleaning at high pressure (1000bar / 15000psi) and above all for hydro-cut (cut with water at pressure of 2700bar / 40000psi) of structural steel and natural stone slabs.
